How anyone can think that Adam Sandler isn’t a fraud after his latest film “Jack and Jill” is beyond me. RedLetterMedia do an excellent job of talking about the poor storyline but also about the production back story of it’s funding and product placement. I haven’t seen the film myself and have no intention of ever doing so, but how it’s staggering to learn that it’s budget was $80m, which is nearly half of what James Cameron’s Titanic had. Fair dues to the guy, he get’s at least $25m a film, but I can only assume he has no shame or self respect. Personally I couldn’t live with myself while making that much money by basically swindling my own fans. If you want to get to the real meat of the Adam Sandler “scam” skip the first video and watch the second part.

I am so out of the loop that I only just found out there is a Hitman film. The series has to be my all time favorite collection of games. I know the film won’t be “deep” or anything like that, but I just hope they manage to capture some of that Hitman atmosphere. Judging by the trailer they have done it as well.

Recently I’ve been pretty harsh when giving my opinion on “British” films, but after Sunshine and now 28 Weeks Later, my faith has done a complete 180. All I can say is, what a film. I expected a lot but I got a whole lot more. I don’t think I’ve felt more physically and emotionally drained after a film. It’s one of the few times where I would say a sequel surpassed its predecessor. The fast film rate really made all the action stand out and they did a really great job of making London look like it had really been deserted. Even now, two days later, I have mental flashes of zombies running around like mad. One can only hope that 28 Months Later (If they give it the green light) will be just as good…

It’s been a long time since I saw a film as emotionally touching as The Fountain. To be honest, it’s been a long since a film actually made me shed a tear. A thousand year story that encircles love, life, death and our re-birth, it is beautiful in every single way. I have always been a fan of Darren Aronofsky’s Pi and Requiem for a Dream, but in my opinion this is his best film to date.
Read MoreI’ve been feeling pretty rough these past few days. A few people have been off work sick and I guess I’ve just caught it. So I took some R&R time from work in the evenings and watched “Fast Food Nation”. I suppose it’s nothing I didn’t already know deep down but the film pretty much kicks it all into the open. The exploited immigrant workers, the frustrated communities, the evil corporations and the disgusting food manufacturing process. I haven’t eaten fast food in a long long time so thankfully it didn’t turn my stomach as it probably would for those who do, but it’s still pretty gruesome. The final five minutes are especially horrifying when you get a real look at the process of a slaughterhouse.
It was an alright film but it’s one of the few that makes you feel empty inside. Not as in un-fulfilled empty, but that there’s nothing you can do to make this a better situation. I think only this film and “Elephant” have ever left me feeling this way. The final moments are wonderful and horrifying in a way. Thank God I already don’t eat Beef as if I did this film would be enough to put me off for good!

What can I say about 300 except that it was absolutely amazing. By far one of the most stunning and beautiful films I have ever seen. I can’t fault it in any way at all. I will have to see this in the cinema again.

Saturday was pretty eventful. We (Me, Emma, Sam, Laura, Luke, Nelson & Patrick) all met up for dinner at Pizza Express Olympia before the film. Sam had been told that they didn’t take reservations but we were told that wasn’t true when we got there and had a 15 minute wait for a table to come up. When one finally did there was enough cutlery for three of us nicely dumped in a pile at one end of the table. Then we met our waiter. What a complete dick. I don’t know what his problem was but customer service was definately not his strong point.
After ordering we were waiting ages for it too arrive and with the film start time growing ever closer we started getting anxious as to whether we would actually recieve it or not. Laura complained and the waiter got all shirty about it, so we just left. On our way out Sam was called a “Fucking Cunt” which is probably not an inaccurate description tbh. We were all pretty amazed afterwards at the waiters behaviour.
The next day Laura and Emma complained. As Laura went down there in person she got a free bottle of wine. If they offer a free meal, I’ll be damned if you’ll catch me back there. The manager said he has a bit of a reputation for this type of thing. I wonder if he’ll lose his job or not.
I suppose I should write something about Borat. Although the only thing I can think of saying about it is it’s *beeping* funny. The film is just so wrong in so many ways.
