Right so we can safely say that the iPhone does not mix well with concrete. The bloody thing dropped out my pocket when getting out the car. I see that replacement screens are around £15 with the tools required to do the job, which isn’t too bad. The only downside is, it looks like a complete ball ache to actually do. I’ll see how I feel about the screen in a couple of weeks.

Now that the iPhone is £169, I just couldn’t resist getting one, and wow, how I wish I had got one sooner. No phone I have ever used or read about comes close to being as feature rich or as impressive as the iPhone. Why spend money on a Nokia or a Sony Ericcson, when you can get one of these babies. My jaw has been constantly hitting the floor since I first got it on Friday. Want to surf the web? With built in wifi it’s no problem and browsing the net on Safari is fracking awesome! My main party piece is loading up the BBC’s iPlayer. The quality is just brilliant.

Everything just works and features just surpass any expections you may have already had. It’s just beautifully crafted and developed. Before I got it I had been saying to everyone that there’s no way I would pay £300+ for an up-to-date 3g version if Apple released one. Now I’m not so sure…

It reached the time for me to finally upgrade my old O2 XDA Mini-S I got just over a year and a half ago. I was tempted by the Sony Ericsson K810i, but I don’t think I go ever go back to a phone without a proper QWERTY keyboard. That didn’t leave me with much choice but to either get another 02 XDA or a Blackberry. When I saw the new Blackberry 8300 Curve, I knew that was the phone for me. Compared to my XDA it feels tiny in my hand (It’s less then half as thick) and when I first saw the keyboard I thought there was no way in hell I was going to be able to type on it, but after mucking about with it for a few hours it’s actually really really nice to use. The buttons feel nice and responsive (I wonder how long they’ll stay that way).

One of the features I was really excited about was the push email. It took me a while to set it all up properly as I wanted to be able to keep a record of any emails I sent from my Crackberry, so I’ve got filters and BCCs setup all over the shop.

A couple of small niggles which most probably can be solved if I delve deep enough into the settings. One being when I go to my Emails or SMS and MMS sections it defaults to showing me both my sent and received messages on the same screen. There must be some way of defaulting it to show me the incoming folder only, but I haven’t worked out how yet.

Another thing is I’m surprised MS haven’t developed a version of Messenger for the Blackberry yet. There are Aim, Yahoo and GoogleTalk apps but no Messenger. Obviously there are 3rd party apps but they require you to fork out for it, which I don’t really want to do.

It really is a lovely and dare I say it, beautiful phone. It feels absolutely great in my hand. I’ll try the built in 2MP camera at some point and post some test photos.

I’m am so tired. Going to bed at 2am when I had to be up at 6am to pick up my Wii was a bad idea. What’s more there was even a queue when I got there! Interstingly enough Noel Clarke from the film Kidulthood was a few places infront of me.

I only got to play on it for about 30 minutes before having to leave for work. First impressions are it’s going to take some getting used to. It’s amazing how small the unit itself is and the controller is really nice to hold. I’ll write some more after playing around on it a bit more tonight, although I’ve got so much work to do I may leave it until tomorrow.

It was about time I got some form of backup solution, so I plumped up a Western Digital MyBook 250 gigs. Nothing special I guess, but then again how exciting can an external hard drive get?

I’ve been after the new Logitech RX Revolution for a little while now and thought I might as well kill two birds with one stone and get it at the same time to save on postage. What a mouse (So it should be with a £70 price tag). The main scroll wheel is a normal ratchet type wheel until you spin it a certain speed then it goes into a freespin mode and will just keep spinning which is really great for long web pages or documents. On the side it has a simple back and forth wheel which makes it really easy to flip between running programmes. I was a bit dubious about getting a cordless mouse but I’m really impressed with the responsiveness. Every so often it takes a moment to wake up, but it’s only been maybe once a day that it fails to react instantly. The battery life is also very impressive. I haven’t charged it since last Friday which is pretty good going. I’m really happy with it so far. Hopefully it will serve me as many years as my old Logitech mouse. God rest it’s soul…

After waiting and waiting and even more waiting, my Xacti C6 finally arrived (Thank you UPS for working in-between Xmas and New Years!).

I still can’t believe how tiny the body is. It’s an odd shape compared to most digital cameras, but it means you can record pretty discretely which is nice. I shot a whole “Shopping at Tesco” video with Emma but tbh its just utterly boring as hell, so I wont be making that my first video post. We are off to Scotland for the weekend, so that might be the perfect opportunity to get some good shots with it.
